JANURARY: CARNATION/SNOWDROP
Carnations represent love, fascination, and distinction.
Snowdrop represents sympathy and consolation.

FEBURARY: VIOLET
Violets represent modesty and innocence.

MARCH: DAFFODIL
Daffodils represent and are associated with luck, rebirth, and new beginnings.
In Wales, it's said that if you spot the first daffodil bloom of the season, you'll have 12 months of luck.

APRIL: DAISY
Daises represent purity, fertility, and chastity but also an indicator of secrecy.
Daisy's were once called "day's eyes," since they could close their petals at night, only revealing their bright yellow center, their little secret, when the sun came out to shine again.
Since the daisy was Freya's favorite flower, it took its meaning from her.

MAY: LILY OF THE VALLEY
Lillie's represent the "return of happiness", humility, and sweetness.
Because of the Greek myth of Hera and Zeus, lilies are associated with rebirth and motherhood.

JUNE: ROSE
Roses represent love passion, and confidentiality.

JULY: Delphinium/Larkspur
Delphinium represents broad horizons, potential and better times.
Larkspur represents an open heart and can be associated with romantic feelings.
One legend tells us that during the Battle of Troy, Achilles’ mother requested that her son’s armor be given to the bravest warrior. The armor was awarded to Ulysses, another brave warrior, and this upset a brave warrior Ajax that he threw himself on his sword. Small blue larkspur flowers grew up everywhere drops of his blood hit the ground.

AUGUST: GLADIOLUS/POPPY
Gladiolus represents strength and integrity.
Poppy represents remembrance and consolation.
Named after the Latin word that means sword (the same root gives us gladiator!), gladiolus were worn by Greek warriors in battle to protect them from harm and death

SEPTEMBER: ASTER/MORNING GLORY
Aster represents wisdom, royalty, daintiness, and patience.
Morning Glory represents strength.
Astraea, who wept when seeing too few stars in the sky tears then became the star-shaped flowers, asters.

OCTOBER: CALENDULA/COSMOS/MARIGOLD
Calendulas symbolize warmth, better communication, and success.
Cosmos represents order and harmony.
Marigold represents strength and power.
Calendulas were and still are used to prevent and heal infections.

NOVEMBER: CHRYSANTHEMUM
Chrysanthemum represents perfection.
The Japanese consider chrysanthemums a symbol of perfection. The orderly unfolding of the flower's petals inspired Confucius so much, that he recommended the blooms as an object of meditation.

DECEMBER: HOLLY/NARCISSUS
Holly represents domestic happiness, defense, and protection.
Narcissus represents rebirth and new beginnings.
Legend says that holly protects from thunder, lightning, and "witchcraft".
